Technology has made things more convenient but it's also really isolated us. Phones keep our heads down in public places, cars keep us in boxes on our streets. While at times this may be desirable, at times this is damaging. So, I challenge you and myself to go find your pack. Go, build community.

Here are some great ways to do that

  1. Patronize the same small businesses, get to know the workers and the other regulars

  2. Leave the car at home for certain walkable errands. Smile at the people who walk past

  3. Join an activity, like a book club, a climbing gym, a games night. Choose one your actually want to do, you will make friends after going consistently.

  4. Volunteer. Find a cause or need that makes sense in your life. Love animals? Volunteer at a shelter. Are a stay at home parent, Volunteer at the local school. Embed yourself and you will meet so many people.

It's easy to be a screen hermit, but our communities become less safe as more of us do this. Make a point of leaving your phone at home sometimes.

Cheers
